Call 2003

The University of Trento, invite applications to fifteen positions for summer internships, tenable for a period of at least 3 months, to be taken up at their respective labs, to conduct research activity in some projects as described at http://www.dit.unitn.it/research/stage/index.xml?lang=en

Department of Information and Communication Technology

The Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DIT) is one of the departments of the University of Trento which represents the point of aggregation of the skills in information and communication technologies and intends to provide a dynamic and qualified response to the ever-increasing demand of such competences from the productive tissue at local, national and international level.

Research Programs

Accepted students will work on one of the following research programs (for more details see http://disi.unitn.it)

Research Programs:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Computer Networks and Distributed Algorithms
  • Multimedia Communications and Networking
  • Remote Sensing for the Environment
  • Software Engineering and Formal Methods
  • Evaluation and Testing in Industrial Processes
  • Knowledge Management and Distributed Information Systems
  • Electronic Sensors and Microsystems

Essence of the Grants

The amount of the grant is 800 Euro per month.

The grant also covers: a) travel expenses , b) medical insurance.

Requirements for the Candidates for the Competition

In order to become a candidate for the stage, students must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Candidate must be on the last year of education, of a program of at least 4 years (university level);
  2. Candidate must specialize in Electronics, Information and/or Telecommunication technologies;
  3. Candidate must have top possible grades during the period of study (Diploma with Distinction);
  4. Candidate should apply for the stage if he/she has the intention to apply for the PhD program at the University of Trento;
  5. Candidate must be highly (self) motivated to do his/her best in order to achieve the best possible results during his/her stage period as well as the PhD program, if accepted;
  6. Candidate must possess excellent knowledge in English.

Submission of the Application

Applications must arrive via email at University of Trento to Dr. Andrea Boni (andrea.boni@ing.unitn.it) not later than 15th November 2002, indicating in the subject line: INTERNSHIP 2003. Applications should include:

  1. Personal information, including place and date of birth, citizenship, passport number and permanent address,
  2. Address for correspondence purposes, including, if possible, a telephone number and email address,
  3. CV, areas of interest (Research programs).

The documents described above must be written in English.

The application forms of the candidates will be considered by the Committee of DIT; part of the candidates will be selected for the stage period at the University of Trento

The selected candidates should apply for the PhD program at the University of Trento. The requirements for the application for the PhD and conditions of the competition can be found at the official site of the PhD program.

  2. November 15 deadlines for submission
  3. December 1: list of accepted students
  4. Period of stage: March, April, May
